   This grow light works just as it should. I am using it to start seeds for my garden now and also have used it indoor with my house plants. It is a bit larger than I expected, but that is actually a good thing. It puts off a small amount of heat And is sturdily built. Comes with all the hardware you need to hang it and you can use the chain to adjust the height or angle you need it.

   This thin and lightweight grow lamp puts out a lot of light!
   It lacks some of the fancy features of its pricier competitors but has what it takes to get my veggies going before the weather permits me to put them outside. The hanging hardware attaches to the corners, giving it stability and I’m able to adjust the lamp’s height as the young plants grow.
   Where a lot of grow lamps come with exaggerated specs, this one actually puts out on the high end of what’s claimed. My measurements indicate about 110 watts. Aluminum construction of the ballast (“LED driver”) and backing of the lamp provide an effective heat dissipater to keep it from getting too hot.

   This is light weight and puts out a good bit of light, but they don’t tell you how hot it gets. If you aren’t prepared to cool it off somehow you could run into problems. I only gave it 3 stars because they don’t warn you about that anyplace.

   I’m currently using this to start flowers and melons for spring planting. The seedlings are doing pretty well, but need to be kept directly under the light fixture to prevent them from getting leggy. The light claims a 2’x2’ ideal area, and I agree. The max 3’x3’ would only be appropriate for mature plants that only need supplemental light. The heat produced is noticeable, it keeps the soil around 80 degrees F when lit. But, it doesn’t get hot enough to actually burn my hand when I touch the top. Overall, this light seems to perform well, but $40 seems like a lot of money for a light that can only cover one tray of seedlings.

   If you’re on a budget but don’t want to sacrifice on power, I suggest you take a look at this 100W grow light from LUYIMIN. It’s a no frills package, with just the bare necessities that are required for full-spectrum illumination. The light has a quantum board-like design with a 24 x 15 array of LEDs. Including warm white, cool white, red, blue, and a few IR and UV for good measure. It’s a very well thought out collection of diodes that will most assuredly provide full spectrum energy for your plants. The thin, lightweight aluminum board dissipates heat reasonably well, but you’ll want to be careful after it’s been on for a few hours. The driver is one I’ve not seen before, and I can barely make out the print on top. No matter, there’s very little information on top to begin with. The light weighs a scant 1lb, 9oz, making it one of the lightest grow lights I’ve ever seen. Especially one that puts out 100W. And that is the actual power, I confirmed (see pics). Being so light, suspending it from a light stand is absolutely no problem. I have several that are designed for reptiles lamps, and they all can handle 1.5lbs easily. To get an idea of the PAR output, I measured the PPFD at 12-inches and 20-inches using a quantum PAR meter. The values are below: PPFD 12-inches 505 umol/m2/s PPFD 20-inches 220 umol/m2/s As much as I like this light, I really wish it had a dimmer. I might try to patch one in, but it may not be compatible with the driver. I suspect the reason it was excluded was cost. And I get it, if the goal was no-frills, they’ve succeeded in a big way. Although the light does not come with a warranty, LUYIMIN markets several grow lights, and most have 4-star or better ratings on ecogrowhawaii.com. This suggests they have a good track record. So here’s my summary: ✅ ADVANTAGES ✅ ✔︎ 100W of real power. ✔︎ Good PAR/PPFD output . Core PAR coverage of around 2-3 sq ft. ✔︎ Generous 24 x 15 array of LEDs that cover the color spectrum. ✔︎ Lightweight. Can be easily suspended from a light stand. ✔︎ Low Cost. ❗️LIMITATIONS❗️ ✔︎ No dimmer. ✔︎ Unknown durability, no warranty. RECOMMENDATION: I’m happy to recommend this grow light because the ADVANTAGES are far more compelling than the few LIMITATIONS. Bottom line, it’s a good buy, even a value buy, at the current price of $39.99. And it should be able to provide sufficient PAR-quality illumination for a 2-3 sq ft area. Maybe even a tad more if the plants can tolerate lower PPFD values. Good Luck!
